The King’s Glory

The King’s Glory

Thank you for joining us here at Chapel City Church as we come together for worship. We have been working through Matthew’s gospel which presents Jesus as the promised messiah and coming king. However, Jesus has now begun to tell his disciples about the necessity of his suffering, death, and resurrection. As we came to the end of Chapter 16, Jesus made a promise that some of the men standing there listening to him would not die before they saw the king in his kingdom power. It’s no accident that we move directly from that promise into the account of the transfiguration. But why does it matter that Jesus is revealed in glory? Why does he tell the men who saw it not to say anything? And what does Elijah have to do with John the Baptist? If you have questions, we would love to help you work through them. We also want to know how we can be praying for you or ministering to you. Please reach out and let us know!

And he was transfigured before them, and his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became white as light. And behold, there appeared to them Moses and Elijah, talking with him.

Matthew 17:2-3
