Today we will begin working through the last of the minor prophets. Malachi writes just over 400 years before the birth of Christ. Although the people have a national history of God’s gracious dealings with them, they continue to display hard hearts and blinded eyes. Malachi writes as something of a last warning to a rebellious people. The messiah is going to come. His messenger will prepare the way for him. But when he comes, will his people be ready to receive him?
For from the rising of the sun to its setting my name will be great among the nations, and in every place incense will be offered to my name, and a pure offering. For my name will be great among the nations, says the Lord of hosts.
