The Lord of the Harvest, part 3: The Disciple’s Identity

The Lord of the Harvest, part 3: The Disciple’s Identity

Welcome to our time of worship together here at Chapel City Church! We are thankful for you, and we want to know how we can be praying for you and ministering to you during this time. Please reach out and let us know how we can come alongside you or someone else that you know is in need. Matthew 10 has given us insight into how Jesus prepared His disciples for their kingdom work. They were being sent out with His message, under His authority, and with His power. But that message would be widely rejected and, eventually, would bring on the certainty of persecution. For those who know and follow Jesus Christ, the message has not changed. To preach the gospel will bring us into opposition with a lost and dying world. If we anticipate persecution, what are those things that we must know before we come into those trying times? What are those fixed certainties that not only ground the disciple in the storm, but that drive us toward continuing to be faithful to proclaim the kingdom?

A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master. It is enough for the disciple to be like his teacher, and the servant like his master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebul, how much more will they malign those of his household.

Matthew 10:24-25
