Good morning, and welcome to our time of worship here at Chapel City Church. We would love the opportunity to get to know you, answer any questions that you have, and understand how we can be praying for you. Last week we looked at the final hours of Christ on the cross. As the Son bears the wrath of God in place of his people, the work of redemption is done. A new and better covenant has been inaugurated through the perfect sacrifice of Jesus Christ. But what exactly did the cross accomplish? As we continue to move through Matthew 27, the physical events surrounding the death of Christ prove to be powerful reminders of the spiritual blessings made a reality through the atoning work of Jesus.
When the centurion and those who were with him, keeping watch over Jesus, saw the earthquake and what took place, they were filled with awe and said, “Truly this was the Son of God!”
