We center on God’s promise to a nation that had been too rebellious for too long. Would God really take them back? Could they ever have that relationship that they had with him so long ago? God says, “Return to me and I will return to you.” That opening to Zechariah’s prophecy sets them (and us!) on a journey of the God who restores.
Then he said to me, “This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the LORD of hosts. (Zechariah 4:6 ESV)
