This Sunday is a special one for our church family. Our youth group is taking an active part in serving and leading our congregation in worship. These young men and women meet on Sunday mornings and Thursday evenings through the year, and they are excited to be an integral part of this body. We would encourage you to thank them, pray for them, and get to know them. And it is very fitting that our text for this week from Colossians 3 deals with children. We have seen God’s design for the family, and His high calling for both husbands and wives in the marriage relationship. This week, we see that God has a high calling for children as well. They are called to obedience for the glory of God. But who is he talking to, and how far does that obedience go? Are there specifics that we can look at that set the pattern and expectation for obedience? We hope that these studies in God’s design for the family have been helpful. We would encourage you to be praying for your family, and for the other families in this body in the coming weeks. Pray that we are convicted and brought to repentance where we fail. Pray that we would be encouraged in areas of strength. And pray that we continue to grow and mature as we pursue obedience with the help of the Holy Spirit.
And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him… Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord. Colossians 3:17 & 20
