Jesus – A Better Sacrifice

Jesus – A Better Sacrifice

Guilt is a terrible taskmaster. To pretend that true guilt doesn’t exist is like the sick one who avoids the doctor for fear of bad news. It doesn’t change anything; the disease just gets worse. Yet to be bound by it produces paralysis in relationship to God and to those around us. It robs us of self-worth, meaningful relationships, and satisfying service.

Sunday Patrick addressed Jesus, the best sacrifice that serves as a great backdrop to our communion service. You can read Hebrews 9: 11-15 and 10:11-18 as a backdrop to this important study.

For if the blood of goats and bulls, and the sprinkling of defiled persons with the ashes of a heifer, sanctify for the purification of the flesh, how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God. (Hebrews 9:13-14 ESV)
