Living as Lights, part 2

Living as Lights, part 2

We are glad that you are worshipping with us and doing what you can to stay connected to the body of Christ during this time. If there is a way that we can help you to stay connected, please reach out and let us know! We are working through the Sermon on the Mount, and we have come to a number of statements where Jesus interacts with the Law. He takes what the people have always known and understood, and he moves them beyond the letter of the Law and towards the heart of the Law. He doesn’t change the teaching, he doesn’t do away with what they know, but he helps them understand that adhering to some external set of rules was NEVER God’s design or purpose. And so, we are beginning to see how disciples of Christ are to live as lights in the world. But how does the disciple think about things like desire? Is lust a problem only when it works itself out in physical ways? What about our marriages? Why is divorce such a big deal in God’s eyes, and why should it matter to us? We can’t wait to see you in person. But until then, please let us know if there are questions that we can answer or ways that we can be praying for you!

If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body be thrown into hell. And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body go into hell.  Matthew 5:29-30
