Real Righteousness, part 1

Real Righteousness, part 1

Thank you for worshipping with us here at Chapel City Church! We miss seeing you in person, but we know that God has designed this time for His glory and for our good. We would love to know how we can come alongside you during this period of isolation so that we can pray for you, encourage you, or help to meet a need that you might have. As we come to our time together in God’s word, we will begin working through Matthew 6. At this point in the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus is going to address what genuine righteousness looks like. He has commanded his disciples to live a life that displays real gospel change. A life lived as a light in the darkness shining in order to point men to the glory of God. But what happens if our worship becomes a show? What if I do the right things, but for the wrong reasons? Jesus is going to warn his disciples, and us by extension, that real righteousness is a heart matter. The disciple does not do what is right to be recognized by men, but he does what is obedient out of love for the Father. Let us know if you have questions, or if we can be praying for you!

But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
Matthew 6:3-4
