We are glad that you are worshipping with us, perhaps in a very different format than we are used to. This week will be the final sermon that deals with the beatitudes at the beginning of Matthew 5. As he opens up the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus gives certain attitudes and actions that are pronounced “blessed” by God. While they might not fit into our expectations or assumptions, these kingdom traits are the anticipated response of disciples of Christ as they wait for the fullness of His kingdom. The final three pronouncements deal with blessing in purity, blessing in peacemaking, and blessing in persecution. But what do those things mean, and why are they counted as blessings for God’s people? We hope that you will consider how these things impact our lives, even in a time of relative isolation. If there are questions that we can answer for you, or ways that we can minister to you, please let us know. Although the logistics might be different, we remain a unified body with Christ as our exalted head. We will do whatever we are able to in order to promote community, care, and discipleship during this time. We are praying for you and with you!
