The Essentials: Generosity

The Essentials: Generosity

As we move into the Fall season, we have begun to work through the Mission, Core Values, and Strategies of our church. It can be difficult to connect those things and to understand why they matter. Essentially, our mission tells us why we are here, our core values tell us what is important to us, and our strategies show us how to move forward. This week we will look at the second of our four core values: generosity. Many people cringe when they think about the church discussing finances and stewardship, but it shouldn’t be that way. The way that we hold onto the resources entrusted to us reveals a great deal about the way that we understand God. After all, who owns our time, our resources, and even our very lives? Understanding who God is, and coming to the realization that He has entrusted resources to us that can yield eternal dividends, brings us to a place where we can be generous and joyful in our giving. Ultimately, our generosity as a people becomes a key component in how we call all people to receive, demonstrate, and declare God’s transforming grace through Jesus Christ. If you have questions or prayer requests, we would love to talk with you!

He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God. For the ministry of this service is not only supplying the needs of the saints but is also overflowing in many thanksgivings to God.
2 Corinthians 9:10-12
