As we work through the Olivet Discourse in Matthew 24, we have come to some specific signs that precede Christ’s second coming. Even up to the coming of the King of Kings, there will be those who seek to take his place. Those who set themselves up as the christ who only want to deceive. But the coming of Christ will be glorious and unmistakable. There will be signs on earth and in heaven. And at the appointed time, the whole world will bear witness to the return of Jesus in power and glory. That reality should give us hope and joy, even in a world that is often uncertain and uncomfortable.
For as the lightning comes from the east and shines as far as the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.
