The King’s Authority

The King’s Authority

As we move through Matthew chapter 4, we have seen Jesus as the tested King. Although He was tempted, he proved faithful in every way. Now, the King will begin His public ministry among the people. If Jesus is who Matthew claims Him to be, then we would expect that this ministry is carried out with a certain authority. What we find in our passage today is a demonstration of the authority of the King. It is present in the teaching, the calling, and the demonstrated power of Christ. But what is the message that He preaches? What do we see as He calls disciples to himself? And why does it matter that His ministry is accompanied by healing in both the physical and spiritual realm? We would love the opportunity to know how we can be praying for you, or to answer any questions that you might have!

The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles—the people dwelling in darkness have seen a great light, and for those dwelling in the region and shadow of death, on them a light has dawned. Matthew 4:15-16
