The King’s Condemnation

The King’s Condemnation

Good morning and welcome to Chapel City Church! We are thankful that you have come to worship with us today. We want to know how we can be in prayer for you, or if there are needs in your life or the lives of those you know that we might help meet. Please reach out to us and let us know how we can come alongside you. This week we will finish Matthew 21. The religious leaders assumed their own authority and challenged the authority of Jesus. Rather than answering their loaded question, Jesus posed his own with regard to John the Baptist. Moving forward, Jesus will command the situation and illustrate the utter failure of Israel’s religious elite. He will use parables that put their disobedience and rejection on display, and they will understand that he is talking about them. The dividing line is clear, the tensions are mounting, and we are moving closer to the cross.

Truly, I say to you, the tax collectors and the prostitutes go into the kingdom of God before you. For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him, but the tax collectors and the prostitutes believed him.

Matthew 21:31b-32
