The King’s Suffering

The King’s Suffering

Last week we came to the high point of Matthew’s gospel as Peter declared that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God. In one of the most dramatic and sudden shifts in the whole New Testament, this week we will find out what it will mean for the Christ to accomplish his work. This is not the messiah that these men were expecting. This is the King, but this is the King who will give his life to save those whom he will call into his kingdom. But what will that mean for his followers? What does it mean for us? If we belong to Christ, if we are identified with Christ, then how does his suffering help us to think about our own suffering? We would love to talk with you and answer any questions that you might have. Please reach out and let us know how we can be praying for your or ministering to you during this time!

Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.

Matthew 16:24-25
