The Strategy: Serve (Part 2)

The Strategy: Serve (Part 2)

This week marks the conclusion of the sermon series that we started in September. Over the course of these last two months, we have looked at the vision, core values, and strategies of the church. Essentially, we are trying to communicate the reason that we exist and the practical steps that are necessary to carry out that mission. Last week, we looked at service and what was required to serve biblically and obediently. This week we will conclude by looking at service again, this time with regard to spiritual gifts. Sadly, there is disagreement and even division in many places over the gifts that God has given the church. While this won’t be an in-depth study of every gift aimed at answering all of those questions, we will cover the biblical foundation for understanding and using the gifts. Scripture makes it clear that the gifts are not our own, but are given by the Spirit for the good of the body of Christ. So, the question isn’t so much whether we exhaustively understand the gifts, but whether we are being obedient to use our gifts as stewards of the grace of God. Do you know how you are gifted? Are you using that gifting for the good of the church? If you have questions about these things, or if there are ways that we can come alongside you, we would love to hear from you!

As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. 1 Peter 4:10-11
