Two Roads, One Way: Part 4 – Two Builders

Two Roads, One Way: Part 4 – Two Builders

Thank you for joining us for our time of worship here at Chapel City Church! Whether you are able to be with us online or in person, know that we are praying for you and that we would love to know how we can be ministering to you during these difficult times. This week, we come to the conclusion of the Sermon on the Mount. For several months we have worked through the presentation of the kingdom, and the call for the kingdom citizen to live differently. As he closes his message, Jesus calls for action. We must do more than admire the morality of Jesus’ words. We must do more than try to implement his teaching so that we live better or more fulfilled lives. We are called to submit the entirety of who we are to Jesus. For the sake of his kingdom, we willingly lay aside our agenda, our preferences, and our passions. We are called not only to hear what he has said, but to do what he has called us to do. In the final contrast of the Sermon, Jesus presents two builders. But what distinguishes the wise from the foolish? What is the outcome of their wisdom or folly?

Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. Matthew 7:24
