Heaven is More Than a Wonderful Place

Heaven is More Than a Wonderful Place

Welcome to our time of worship here at Chapel City Church, whether you are able to worship here in person or take the opportunity to watch at home. You are an important part of our body, even if you aren’t able to return yet to worship with us physically.
We are in the middle of a series about the Gospel of Matthew. The theme of that gospel is the Kingdom of God. We are currently studying the Sermon on the Mount, which teaches us what is expected of kingdom citizens in our journey through life. We have just completed study of a prayer that says, “Your kingdom come.” What will that coming of the kingdom look like in its fullness for eternity?
The most complete picture of what the kingdom will be like is found in the last two chapters of the Bible: Revelation 21-22. All the preparation is over. Christ has returned and dealt fully, for the last time, with the evil one, with sin, with death. All God’s people, from the beginning of time until the end, are gathered together to celebrate as the bride adorned for the bridegroom.
This week, we will study those two chapters, looking at what is there and what is missing. I pray that even this brief overview of the eternal kingdom will stir our hearts and give us a renewed desire to live the kingdom life from day to day. We will also be celebrating the Lord’s Supper this morning. I hope that this study of God’s word will give you a better picture of what you are looking forward to when you take the bread and the cup to “proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.”

The Spirit and the Bride say, “Come.” And let the one who hears say, “Come.” And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who desires take the water of life without price. Revelation 22:17
