Prayer is the right response when we are faced with impossible tasks beyond our capabilities. Daniel 2:1-23 tells of just such a challenge to a group of young men who had pledged themselves to God. They prayed and God answered. But rather than running ahead with the answer they stopped, gave thanks, and recognized God’s gift to them. Daniel’s thanksgiving opens the door to significant thank yous that deepen our gratitude and enrich our lives.
To you, O God of my fathers, I give thanks and praise, for you have given me wisdom and might, and have now made known to me what we asked of you, for you have made known to us the king’s matter.” (Daniel 2:23 ESV)
